In the summer months
Easy hiking or hiking with young children
The Nature Loop Trail is a great easy hike to do with younger kids. Depending on age let them know going to the left is narrow and steep.
Shady and cool trail
Start at the Hansel mailboxes near the Campground and then back up to the Fjord. This hike is a nice loop that takes about 1.5 hours to complete and provides excellent views. You have to take Northwood’s road back from Fjord to Hansel.
Moderate hike
For a nice mellow loop that doesn’t take too long to complete, try Lions Leap. This is also a fun and not too difficult mountain bike ride.
Advanced hike
For a more challenging hike try the Euer Valley Loop which is over 6 miles long. Also, behind the Northwoods Clubhouse, there is a great trail that is steep and provides shade and a nice view.
Great views
We recommend starting at the Glacier Way trailhead which provides some wonderful views of Donner Lake.
Mountain biking loop
Lion’s leap, three bridges, trails into Euer Valley. Here is a link to some suggested hiking trails within Tahoe Donner Association.

Snowshoeing
Depending on the type of snow and how much, we recommend going to the Cross Country Area for the best snowshoeing. All trails are open for snowshoeing but can be difficult to access. Stay on the trails unless you know them. The trees on the trails are marked with triangles.
